Day 8: Where's the Line?
I had a medical test today at an outpatient clinic in a small local hospital. It couldn't have been more of a stark contrast to Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. While the testing itself seemed up to date, the rooms and the people were just folks. No immaculate, gleaming, glass-walled lobby here, with every form digitized and all interaction standardized. I even had a great conversation with the intake registrar about dreams, of all things! Today is the doubled day of Gevurah. Strength, form, judgment are the attributes associated with Gevurah, the foundational energy for the week. What kind of strength and discipline does it take to form wise judgment? Where’s the line between mechanization and humanity. An old question that is ever more pressing. Gevurah itself, the consistency of attention to attention is at the heart of discerning that boundary.
