Heart's Desires
Online, the RV looked perfect: low miles, good owner (i.e. good maintenance), the right manufacturer, price in line with the nationwide competition. Both inspections (RV and mechanical) showed no major problems. I brought two heavy bags full of stuff I might need: books, a converter battery, supplements for a month, clothes, pack of Tarot cards, some GF snacks, flashlights, umbrella, raincoat, extra batteries. Apps downloaded for maps, camping locations, cell coverage locations, state lines, hiking trails. Extra data ordered for cell phone hotspot, arrangements made with bank, insurance, warranty. Ready to buy the new home! It's late by the time the plane touches down. The owners kindly offered to pick me up at the airport and drive me to their home, where I was to spend the night in the RV parked in their driveway. Awkward at first, RV shop talk visibly thawed the atmosphere on the long drive, especially with how the Chinook was superior to many newer models. We all wanted it to work. It was dark by the time we pulled into the driveway. Floodlights glinting off the roof of gold metallic finish emphasized the height. Uh oh! This isn't the one! Not mine. Not home. I knew before I stepped inside, but the interior confirmed it. Almost 9pm by this time, I wasn't going anywhere else that night. We deposited my bags inside, he showed me the lights and heater and said good-night. I sank down on the beige fabric bed/couch, with a feeling so unexpected. Relief and joy. Relief and joy?? Two nights before, I'd had a dream that I stayed in a van part of the night and it had a leak. In the dream, I asked myself "why would I buy a vehicle with a leak?" I thought the dream was referring to another one I'd been investigating alongside this one. Since no physical leak is present in this one, I decided it's an emotional leak. Just as devastating, if not more. Plumbing carries water, the basis of life and feelings, the basis of human access to life. Something about this vehicle would "leak" my life force - the opposite of my goal. My attention turned to "Now what? How to leave this place? Where to go next?" The night was long but not unhappy. When I woke around 3 am, the hours of darkness helped clarify my heart's desires. Explore this unknown part of the universe, with or without an RV. The Wanderer's Path, with or without an RV.
